Dental healthcare professionals are exposed to daily physical microtraumas that often lead to exhaustion and clinical burnout. Ninety-three percent of dental hygienists report one or more musculoskeletal disorder associated pain. The number of dental hygienists exiting the profession climbs annually due to work related injuries. This course is a blend of identifying and applying OSHA standards for safety, learning and applying proper body positioning and innovative products as control methods to increase comfort and efficiency in the dental operatory.
Objectives:
Express awareness of work-related risks that exist in the dental office
Identify innovative solutions that are available to help mitigate or eliminate risk of injury for provider and patient
Apply OSHA Hierarchy of Controls
Understand basic principals of balance and muscle memory
