This three-hour lecture course will provide a review of providing safe and effective pain control to your patients. The course will cover: medical history screening, recognition and prevention of complications, traditional injection techniques and pharmacological agents. In addition the course will introduce participants to newer injection techniques such as the Anterior Middle Superior Alveolar (AMSA), Posterior Superior Alveolar (PSA), and Gow-Gates (G-G) and advanced topical, buffering, and reversal anesthetic agents.
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course the participant will be able to:
Provide safe and effective pain control.
Utilize proper medical history screening and recognition of potential complications associated with the administration of a local anesthetic agent.
Utilize proven anesthetics techniques and agent to achieve adequate anesthesia.
Add new injection techniques to your anesthesia armamentarium.
Include the latest advances in pharmacological agents to enhance your pain control Techniques.

Dr. Kaz has been faculty at UMKC School of Dentistry since 2015 teaching in the division of dental hygiene entry-level, degree-completion, and graduate programs. She also serves as the director of the School of Dentistry Continuing Dental Education department. Dr. Kaz served as the inaugural dental hygiene program director for Waukesha County Technical College and Rio Salado Community College, and recently as the associate dean of education and assessment at Missouri School of Dentistry & Oral Health. She has been actively involved in dental accreditation since 1997, serving as a curriculum consultant for dental and dental hygiene education. Dr. Kaz has been teaching dental hygienists the local anesthesia and pain control course ,as well as continuing education programs since 1988. Dr. Kaz’s areas of interest include specialized accreditation, program assessment, curriculum, local anesthesia and pain control, and new program development.
