DESCRIPTION:LIVE HANDS ON\nPresented by : Dr John Ecternauch\nREGISTER NOW\nSaturday June 26\, 2026\n9:00am – 4:00pm – Didactic and Clinical \nCE credits-6 hours \nFee: $275.00 for Dental Hygienists \nFree for Dentists to attend Didactic Portion \nWhere:  Vermont State University 211 Lawrence Place Williston\, VT 05495 \nVermont Dental Statutes- section 624. Practice part (d) : A public health dental hygienist\, who has completed training approved by the Vermont Department of Health in the silver modified atraumatic restorative technique (SMART)\, may use SMART to treat patients in a manner consistent with rules adopted by the Board.(added 2011\, No.116(Adj. Sess.)\,section 13; amended 2013\, No. 27\, section 3; 2019\, No. 30\, section 10; 2023\, No. 77\, section 4\, eff. June 20\, 2023. \nA simplified definition of a SMART (Silver Modified Atraumatic Restorative Treatment/Therapy: Its main objective is to stabilize the carious lesion. This includes using both a bactericidal agent (SDF) and a biomimetic restorative material (GIC). It may result in a restoration with only partial form and function. \nMedical Management of Caries (MMC): refocuses the etiology and treatment of dental caries. A “cavity” is a bacterial infection and should be treated as such. \nMinimally Invasive Dentistry (MID): removal of some carious material (Infected dentin only) OR no removal at all. \nREGISTER NOW
