Medical emergencies do happen in dental offices. Not only do they occur to patients who are being treated by hygienists or
dentists, but also people who are in the waiting room can present with a problem that needs immediate attention. As dental
professionals we need to be able to react quickly and appropriately to these situations. This course will cover how to have an
appropriate medical emergency kit and organize your approach to a medical emergency. Diagnosis and treatment of common
emergency situations will be discussed.

  • Developing an organized approach to medical emergencies
  • Diagnosis and treatment of medical emergencies
  • What you should have in your emergency kit
  • What equipment should be available in your office

Paul A. Danielson, DMD received his B.S. from St. Lawrence University and his DMD from Tufts University School of
Dental Medicine. Following his graduation from Tufts, he completed a general dental internship at the Medical Center of Vermont
and then completed a residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Hartford Hospital, Hartford Connecticut. He practiced
in Vermont for 39 years also serving as Chair of Dentistry and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the Department of Surgery
at the University of Vermont Medical Center. He was active at the UVM Medical Center having served as President of the
Medical staff and on the Board of Trustees. Dr. Danielson is also a past President of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial
