Friday, August 23, 2019, 8:30 – 11:30 AM
(3 CEUs)
Presented by Patti Digangi, RDH, BS & Cindy Purdy, RDH, BSDH, CEAS

Many involved in the current dental consortium report the existing dental system meet the access needs of all Americans. Conversely, public health data demonstrates that only 30% of the U.S. population is being served under the current workforce models. Is the current model providing a profitable outreach to underserved communities? Has it improved patient outcomes? Telecommunication technology advancements and the newly ADA approved 2018 CDT codes related to Teledentistry transmission can help to bridge the gap of unmet dental needs. This gap can conveniently and efficiently be filled from both the privatesector and the public health sectors of dentistry. Teledentistry can contribute to successfully meeting the needs of many forgotten patients and improve outcomes.

Course based on the book DentalCodeology: Teledentistry Critical Choices

Learning objectives:

  • Recognize Teledentistry as a means to improve patient outcomes and practice growth.
  • Distinguish the crucial role dental hygienists play in increasing revenue streams by converting no-transport oral evaluations/
    screenings to in-office treatment
  • Envision equality in patient care while providing a profitable, convenient outreach to your community
  • Comprehend critical choices needed for successful implementation of a Teledentistry system

PLEASE NOTE: Handouts will be provided at the course.

Patti DiGangi, RDH, BS understand the metrics that accurate insurance coding provides. The ADA recognized her expertise by inviting her to write a chapter in its CDT 2017 Companion book and again for the CDT 2018 Companion which include the new teledentistry codes. Patti holds publishing and speaking licenses with the ADA for Current Dental Terminology ©2018 and a license for SNODENT©2017 diagnostic coding.

Cindy Purdy, RDH, BSDH, CEAS has thirty-seven years of clinical dental hygiene experience and a passion for advancing her profession. This lead Cindy into innovative arenas: consulting, speaking, strategic development, ergonomic specialist and trainer of dental manufacturing teams. As the only dental clinician in her Colorado county, she has initiated Teledentistry to bring equality of care to her rural, underserved community.
