Presented by Patti Digangi, RDH, BS & Cindy Purdy, RDH, BSDH, CEAS
Many involved in the current dental consortium report the existing dental system meet the access needs of all Americans. Conversely, public health data demonstrates that only 30% of the U.S. population is being served under the current workforce models. Is the current model providing a profitable outreach to underserved communities? Has it improved patient outcomes? Telecommunication technology advancements and the newly ADA approved 2018 CDT codes related to Teledentistry transmission can help to bridge the gap of unmet dental needs. This gap can conveniently and efficiently be filled from both the privatesector and the public health sectors of dentistry. Teledentistry can contribute to successfully meeting the needs of many forgotten patients and improve outcomes.
