This program discusses the action mechanism of hydrogen peroxide and the differences between whitening and bleaching products. Strategies on engaging patient whitening discussions and the management of patient clinical outcome expectations will be explored. This course includes discussion of the implementation of an efficient, state-of-the-art whitening system empowered with advanced ionic technology that will transform the whitening experience for both the dental practitioner and patient.

At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:

  • Explain how tooth-whitening technology works
  • Determine appropriate whitening treatment options for patient
  • Identify factors affecting whitening treatment expectations
  • Use communication skills to set expectations
  • Discuss the structure and mineral content of enamel that will yield successful tooth whitening
  • Design effective tooth whitening and marketing methods to reach patients
  • Devise effective programs to use whiteningas a practice builder
  • Explain Ionic Technology and its implication on the bleaching process
  • Demonstrate the placement of and explain the use of a gingival tissue barrier
  • Tell a patient how to use at-home whitening
  • Outline the process for the use of in-office whitening
